Apart from the many activities you can take part in all year round, there are lots of interesting shows and events to enjoy during your stay.

Trekking, Mountain biking, Horse-riding
There are many routes you can follow either along the bottom of the valley or high up in the mountains, from where you can enjoy wonderful views of Corsica and the great buttress of the Alps.

Fishing
You can go fishing in the clear waters of the Tanaro and Arnella rivers to catch the highly-prized brown trout. Permits are available for periods of a week, a month, or a year.

For younger visitors
The “Pollicino” (Tom Thumb) playground is just a short walk from the only town centre, and provides a lovely, green area for children to play in, right away from the traffic.

Physical activities
The “Parco Fluviale Altramella” (Altramella River Park) is also just a few hundred metres from the hotel, and offers an exercise course and a circuit track for running and jogging. You can spend pleasant evenings there cooking in the fully-equipped picnic areas.

Free-climbing
There are many practice walls throughout the valley, catering from everyone from the beginner to the expert. The combination of limestone and quartzite has produced cliff-faces in a variety of sizes; all in tranquil, secluded locations. Rock-climbing gradually turns into mountaineering up to a height of 2000 metres, on the stupendous slopes of the Mongioie massif.

Potholing
The Mongioie group of mountains are a world-famous caving destination, with hundreds of kilometres of cavities, many still unexplored.

Mushroom collecting
The area is famous for its Boletus mushrooms and other varieties of fungi. You can obtain a permit from the regional authorities to go hunting for these choice delicacies.

Cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing and Alpine skiing
At Cantarana, 3 kilometres from Ormea, there is an officially approved ski-slope, perfect for those who want to ski with a view of the sea. Monesi, just 25 minutes’ drive away, offers ski-runs for every level of expertise, and in a delightful setting. Finally, the more daring, there are plenty of opportunities to burn off energy on excursions with shoe-shoes on Alpine skis in some of the most spectacular scenery in all the Alps.
